Men's Wheelchair Basketball Takes Three of Four at Auburn University Tournament

The University of Alabama men’s wheelchair basketball team lost to the University of Arizona in its opening game of the Auburn University Tournament presented by Hollister, the team’s first NWBA college tournament of the season. The Crimson Tide bounced back with a pair of decisive wins over Edinboro University of Pennsylvania before finishing the tournament with a win over the host Auburn team. In its game against Arizona, Alabama found itself trailing 37-22 at halftime after struggling shooting throughout the first half. Alabama shot 35.7 percent (10/28) from the field in the first half, including 16.7 percent (1/6) on three-point attempts. The Tide’s shooting improved somewhat in the second half, but they were unable to ultimately make headway as each team scored 28 points in the second half and Arizona won the game 65-50. Women's Wheelchair Basketball Overcomes Early Deficit to Sweep Powerade Invitational, Remain Unbeaten in Intercollegiate Play

The University of Alabama women’s wheelchair basketball team opened the Powerade Invitational at home at Stran-Hardin Arena by winning all three of its games handily on Dec. 8 (62-38 over the University of Arizona, 74-33 over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and 54-35 over the University of Texas at Arlington). While the Crimson Tide completed the tournament sweep by beating the Texas-Arlington Mavericks 68-48 in a rematch on Dec. 9, they had to overcome an early deficit to get that tournament-closing win.  The University of Alabama women’s wheelchair basketball team went a perfect 18-0 in National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) intercollegiate division play last season en route to a fourth consecutive national championship . The Crimson Tide picked up right where they left off going 4-0 in their first NWBA intercollegiate division action of the season at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament this past weekend on Dec. 1 and 2.
